Intermix Settles With Spitzer For $7.5 Million, No Admission Of Wrongdoing

Intermix Media will pay New York State $7.5 million over three years without admitting any wrongdoing or liability in surreptitious software installations on consumer PCs. As AP reports, the settlement in response to a suit filed by NY state AG Eliot Spitzer in April also calls for the web marketer to halt distribution of adware, toolbars and “redirects” — measures the company says have already been taken.
Intermix also released its 4Q05 and FY2005 earnings Tuesday: record revenue of $24.1 million for its fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31, up 68 oercent from $14.4 million in the same quarter last year — and a net loss of $409,000 compared to a net loss of $4.4 million the previous fiscal year. Revenues for FY05 were $79 million, compared to $52.9 million for FY04; net income for FY05 was $4.5 million, compared to a net loss of $13.1 million in FY04.
