Singapore's IDA Beckons Indian Animation Companies

Express Computer: Thomas Lim, Director of Games & Entertainment, IDA Singapore, invites Indian animation studios for a cost-effective partnership. “Currently, most animation studios are in a dilemma whether to make additional capital investment or to outsource rendering. At the peak, there are never enough servers for the jobs. Similarly, during less intensive periods, expensive equipment and rendering software lie idle. The need of the hour is a utility-based animation rendering facility,” Lim said in an interview.
So how will IDA help?
Currently, animation companies face challenges when there is a sudden surge of work during specific periods. These companies are not sure of investing as they are not sure whether the volume of work will continue. We are proposing a utility model where companies will pay only for the infrastructure or service they use. Animation companies can thus save on capital costs and ensure that there is no excess capacity. Through virtual remote rendering facilities, animation studios can lower their total cost of ownership. Our idea is that if you are a content producer, you should not worry about post-production hassles. Just give the content to us and we will give shape to the content the way the producer wants. We believe that the utility-based model will change the world of animation.”
