Wait for it… Wait for it…

This is slightly Off Topic, but a good little read. You’ll see the relevance at the end. It’s a comment from Slashdot, on the post titled, “Nerds Make Better Lovers”. You can read the comment at Slashdot, here, or below, as I’ve copied and pasted it. Terrificly funny stuff.

Saw him in the evening and he was acting really strangely. I went shopping in the afternoon with the girls and I did turn up a bit late so thought it might be that. The bar was really crowded and loud so I suggested we go somewhere quieter to talk. He was still very subdued and distracted so I suggested we go somewhere nice to eat. All through dinner he just didn’t seem himself; he hardly laughed and didn’t seem to be paying any attention to me or to what I was saying. I just knew that something was wrong. He dropped me back home and I wondered if he was going to come in; he hesitated but followed. I asked him again if there was something the matter but he just half shook his head and turned the television on. After about 10 minutes of Silence, I said I was going upstairs to bed. I put my arms around him and told him that I loved him deeply. He just gave a sigh and a sad sort of smile. He didn’t follow me up but later he did, and I was surprised when we made love. He still seemed distant and a bit cold, and I started to think that he was going to leave me and that he had found someone else. I cried myself to sleep.

Apple switched to Intel.

Absolutely gutted.

Got a shag though.

Ahhh, so funny. Can’t say I had that “gutted” feeling, but I know plenty of you out there do – hopefully this gave those of you who needed it, a laugh.

And thanks to ackthpt for the great comment.

Seriously, my friends and I are trying to figure out where that quote is from as well, it’s something very recent! Help! I can’t believe how many people are wondering the same thing!

AHHHH this is killing me…. what is it this quote from!?!?! Does Sandlot sound right?

So, have we come to a consensus as to what movie “Wait for it…Wait for it…Now!!” comes from? It is nice to know that there are other people out there who have as much free time in the world as I do to ponder these types of things. We’re dying over here…PLEASE HELP US!!!

Finally… I have been racking my brain for 4 hours now trying to remember where in the hell I heard that line… “Wait for it, wait for it”.

Most recently, it was “The Simpsons” with Homer on top of the hill waiting for the world to end. Thank you for helping me prevent further loss of time and brain cells trying to figure this out.

It was in “Star Wars” but I believe it was “The Empire Strikes Back” when the Death Star (being rebuilt) was destroyed by the Millenium Falcon.

I saw it in The Simpsons. Homer thought the end of the world was coming at a certain time, so he made everyone go up on a hill and wait. When the time came, nothing happened, so he said “wait for it, wait for it”. The y cut forward in time, and he is still saying it and his voice is hoarse. I’m sure they were quoting it from a movie because that is what they do.

It’s a quote from early episodes of M*A*S*H when Radar says, “Choppers!” and in reaction to everyone else’s questioning looks he says confidently, “Wait for it…” and seconds later everyone scrambles because they finally hear them.

Phil Hurlbert

“Wait for it . . . Wait for it” is in Patch Adams when Robin Williams begins his “hello experiment” and swing down in front of the elderly lady, and then wait for the smile to come. Wait for it . . . Wait for it . . . Now! I don’t know, but would like to.

Buckshot El Caribe

I can see where you might think Star Wars. The first guy (not Luke) who makes the run at the thermal exhaust port says “Almost there… almost there…”.

Thats definitely not it though. I don’t need to look up the script either, I can quote it from memory =)

Chris Holland

What about one of the original star wars? right before Luke destroys the Death Star from his X-Wing? He’s flying in that narrow trench, holding for the perfect moment to launch that bomb in “the hole”.

This is the hardest quote to find! I’ve tried looking everywhere and I still have no clue! This is driving me crazy!
I guess it could be from either Kindergarten Cop or Ghostbusters, but I thought the movie was more recent than that?
Any other ideas?

im not sure but ghostbusters could be right also
movie scripts are not always the same as what you end up seeing, esp with great improvationalists like the ones in that movie

i came here looking for where it was from too. interesting..

Buckshot El Caribe

Well, Arnold says it in Kindergarten Cop. That came out before Braveheart (and as someone already mentioned, in Braveheart Gibson says “Hooooold… HOOOOOLD…” not “Wait for it… wait for it…”

That is funny because I just had some one ask me what movie that quote is from….I can’t remember the name of the movie….
It’s like: “Wait for it….wait for it…….Now!”

Damn it what is the movie?

Sorry to be driving everyone nuts about this. I honestly don’t remember it being from something specific. I think it was mentioned earlier, that Braveheart may be one place, but First Knight seems a likely suspect as well.

Josh has been trying to get a contest idea going to do some give aways here on The Apple Blog – maybe solving this mystery will be one of the contests…

Is it from First Knight? The Camelot army is in the woods, being charged, and King Arthur doesn’t want his army to get too excited. My coworker and I are driven nuts by this too.

This is amazing….we too have had that line “wait for it, wait for it” stuck in our heads for the past few weeks and we can’t remember where it came from. Can someone please let us know — this is consuming way too much of our time and energy right now.

I stumbled across this blog while actually looking to find out where “Wait for it … wait for it” is from. If anyone knows for absolute sure and can send me a link to a site with the quote on it please email me, thank you =].

Justin – just meant it in a comedic sense. as in the punch line, “wait for it…” You know it’s coming, it’s just waiting for the moment you read it.

that’s all. I’m sure it’s in some movies, or tv shows, but it’s nothing specific I was quoting.

sorry to drive you and your friends crazy over it. :)

this is a very strange question but the title “wait for it, wait for it” is that from a movie? it sounds very familiar and I could swear I heard it in a recent movie, my friends and I have been trying to figure it out but have come up with nothing, it’s driving us nuts. Please help, if it’s not from a movie sorry for the dumb e-mail.
