SBC and BellSouth have cut a deal to include listings from YellowPages.com on AOL Yellow Pages. The deal should be be good for both parties: AOL gets a more powerful local search product and the telecoms can sell ads against higher traffic. Press release.
BusinessWeek Online, which appears to have had the scoop on this, reports that YellowPages.com “is paying to have its advertisers appear in color-enhanced, more detailed listings at the top of each set of search results.” The detailed story looks at the failure to convert print directory power to online and efforts to erode search engine share.
