A panel on the IPTV market at the Digital Media Summit…
– Olivier Gers, FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide, Senior VP, Licensing, Americas: As content owners, the rights issues is big problem in IPTV. The second problem is that what kind of interactivity do we allow across different countries.
What Mark Burnett’s Apprentice has done with Yahoo is fantastic, in terms of integration for advertisers.
– Steve Haire, Verizon Communications, Director, Interactive TV: Tivo: Tivo’s interface and consumers offerings it the gold standard for people like us…but set-top box subsidies is taking a heavy toll on Tivo. I would think–personal opinion–they would move into a licensing model where they license it to the Motrola’s of the world. Tivo’s advertising model is going to work a lot better for them 5-10 years down the line.
