Online And Mobile Gaming Popular Among Youth

The Hindu: India is fast emerging as a key destination for online gaming with research firm, AC Nielsen, estimating the market here to reach $50 million by the end of 2005.
India has been making slow but steady strides into game production. Studios such as Dhruva, Paradox Studios and Indiagames are said to be doing high profile work in this field. This trend has caught up among the technology-savvy youth.
Most gamers do it not just as a pastime but they also take it a step further by participating in national and international level gaming competitions. The response to the ongoing Reliance WebWorld, “Game Box”, a national championship, stands testimony to the fact that gaming is a serious affair.
Apparently there are some 15,000 registrations for this year’s Game Box competition.
