Jobs Details Apple's Planned Move To Intel

After days of incessant rumors and pie-in-the-sky chatter, Steve Jobs made it official during today’s keynote to Apple developers: Apple will deliver some Macs with Intel chips by June 2006 and will transition all Macs to Intel by the end of 2007. He showed off a version of Mac OS X Tiger on an Intel-based Mac and announced a new developer program ($999 a pop) to ensure that software will run on PowerPC and Intel systems. Microsoft and Adobe have promised to support both versions.
Jobs: “It’s been ten years since our transition to the PowerPC, and we think Intel’s technology will help us create the best personal computers for the next ten years.”
More as warranted.
