Macromedia has announced some good increases in putting flash on mobile phones, among them “shipments of mobile devices running Flash nearly tripled from 12 to 35 million units. Three of the six leading mobile device manufacturers, up from one last year, now license Flash to deliver great mobile experiences to their global customers. During the same period, the number of operators supporting Flash content and services surged from 1 to 12″.
The company has also launched the Macromedia Flash Platform, which “includes a universal client runtime, an openly published file format (SWF) specification, a robust programming model, time-tested development tools, dedicated server technology, integrated solutions, and the support of major systems integration partners, ISVs, and OEMs”. Not to mention the new Flash player, codenamed Maelstrom.
