The portal half of SBC Yahoo DSL should get a lift in traffic and use of various services (IM, hosting, email) as SBC’s $14.95 DSL sale catches on. As Business Week Online explains, “Yahoo will pick up a significant amount of new business with very little effort. Already, ‘the vast majority’ of SBC’s 5.6 million DSL subscribers use Yahoo’s services, according to an SBC spokesperson.” Yahoo will start providing the same services for Verizon this summer.
The DSL partnerships give Yahoo an edge over the other content portals. It will be interesting to see if other Yahoo services, like Yahoo Music, can use the advantage to become the top choice in those households.
