MSN hopes to get some attention for MSN Music in the increasingly cluttered digital music sales arena with a major multi-media, cross-channel “Buy 1 Get 5 Free” campaign. Spend $0.99 on a song (less for some songs) and five credits appear in your MSN Music account. MSN is spreading far afield with the campaign but success rests in large measure on capturing the interest and dollars of people who already use the portal or are tied into various .Net Passport services. They also have to convince new users to stick around after the freebies.
The offer ends July 10; the fine print says “while supplies last,” which leaves me wondering just how you can run out of digital music.
