Decision On The Next Phase Of FM Radio Privatisation Soon

The Financial Express: The government will take decisions on key media issues like allowing second phase of FM radio and foreign newspapers to publish from India, in the next two to three weeks, according to information and broadcasting minister S Jaipal Reddy. Also, he reiterated that an autonomus broadcasting regulator, like the FCC in the US and OfCom in the UK, would be in place soon. The minister was speaking at a conference organised by media portal Exchange4Media on Tuesday.
As reported by FE, the I&B ministry would send its recommendations on FM-II, foreign newspapers, revised uplinking norms and downlinking guidelines, to the Cabinet this week.
