Mobile Startups Struggling With Differentiation

Startups in the mobile content market are struggling to differentiate their products as the market matures, according to a panel at the Under the Radar conference Tuesday. The conference, sponsored by the IBDNetwork, helps young startups find potential funding partners.
All three judges questioned the differentiation of many of the companies, including New York City-based ThumbPlay, Seattle-based Mobile Operandi, Palo Alto, California-based Avvenu, and Cambridge, Massachusetts-based Oxy Systems
Meanwhile, other startups such as San Francisco-based UpSnap, a mobile search company, was able to convince judges and an audience of roughly 40 entrepreneurs and venture capitalists that its service could generate sales for carriers and coax subscribers to access the service.
