Peter Chernin, president of News Corp., in a wide-ranging interview about the company and its digital future…In keeping with Murdoch’s latest enthusiasm for the Internet, Chernin says: “We have invested a lot in improving our investments in our Web sites. The biggest and most significant change…is the popularity of video content in the Internet, since we are leaders in content creation for video – news, sports, TV shows, movies. People want to see more video content on the Internet and we have Fox, the NFL, baseball, hockey, ’24’ … It’s a turning point and an enormous opportunity for those who create video content, and the question is how to maximize the value of that content.”
And then, as is customary, disses blogs: “There’s room for blogs, but as personal media. I think search is a much more important realm than blogs, and content has a lot more audience than blogs do.”
