Wireless Watch Japan has a video clip of the technology Vodafone and KDDI hope to use to send digital terrestrial broadcasting to mobile phones by spring 2006. The system includes the ability to broadcast an emergency signal, and there are still some bugs to work out, but overall the images look pretty good. “No bigger than a conventional cell phone, the 801SH has a hybrid split-screen displaying images on the upper half with the bottom reserved for scrolling data feeds and Web links to programming, etc.”
It will be interesting to see which mobile TV technology takes off, especially if different systems are competing in the same market.
