NYTimes.com: Marketing Director, NYC

The New York Times on the Web (NYTimes.com), winner of Best News Site awards in 2005, 2004 and 2003, is
seeking a Marketing Director to develop strategies that drive site, user
and revenue growth. The candidate will have a strong direct response
background to implement all aspects of NYTimes.com’s integrated marketing
plans including consumer and trade marketing, print and online, search
engine optimization, promotions and sponsorship activities.

Responsibilities:

– Leverage the brand value to grow usage and revenue and achieve aggressive
bottom-line goals, using sophisticated market intelligence and superior
media planning skills and creative online and offline methods.

– Drive high-impact consumer and trade programs to promote product launches
and new site features.

– Communicate effectively with management, colleagues at The New York
Times, and internal client groups (sales, product development, editorial,
etc.)

– Determine effective ways to package and promote the site to existing and
potential advertisers, and to increase the number of unique users and page
views.

– Work with design team to manage creative elements of marketing programs
in support of existing sites and the launch of new verticals.

– Manage three direct reports. Manage a multi-million dollar marketing
budget.

Qualifications:

– 8+ years of hands-on, integrated marketing experience with both online
and offline experience. A verifiable track record of successfully
implementing marketing strategies is essential.

– Experience working at a consumer or trade publisher; advertising or media
agency that covers online and offline enterprises preferred.

– Willing to take risks to initiate and implement non-standard,
breakthrough marketing programs.

– Strong analytical skills to evaluate program and channel ROI.

– Recognized ability to drive cooperation and high performance within a
small team. Ability to manage and nurture productive relationships across
client groups, parent company and senior management.

– Ability to effectively prioritize sometimes conflicting requests for
deliverables.
