Motorola — which has earmarked US$100 million to invest in start-ups this year, a trend followed by many wireless giants — has invested in 422 inc, a start-up in the wireless directory area.
“422’s cutting-edge wireless directory technology of connecting consumers seamlessly to the people and information that they want aligns with Motorola’s vision,” Warren Holtsberg, a Motorola vice president who oversees its investments, said in a statement. This financing round was 422’s third and included previous investors Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Draper Fisher Jurvetson Gotham Ventures, but none of the figures were dislcosed.
