Broadband on Scripps’ Menu

We’ve mentioned Scripps’ broadband moves before…TV Week covers it in more detail. Scripps already provides broadband video to MSN and Comcast.net and now wants to use that video to build its own broadband business. “We do expect broadband to be profitable,” Burton Jablin, executive VP of Scripps Networks said.
Scripps is also doing research into a subscription model for the channels. Subscribers could pay to become part of an affinity group or club, with members entitled to delve deeper into the material on the channel and also be entitled to discounts from advertisers and on Scripps’ Shop at Home channel.
