Kyocera has signed deals with both Sorrent and Taito to include some of their games preloaded on handsets, as well as available for download through selected CDMA mobile providers. From the handset manufacturers point of view this is Kyocera joining companies like Nokia, Siemens and Motorola in recognizing the importance of mobile content for handsets and the fact that if the manufacturer doesn’t offer some content as a distinguishing factor it has to at least make sure that the content isn’t conspicuosly absent.
The benefits for the games providers are obvious, but for Taito more so — after a dismal 2005 fiscal year the company decided to focus on mobile games (and arcade games) as the only sections of the company that were doing well.
