Monitoring eBay auctions from a coach will only require a remote instead of a laptop for some 50,000 Time Warner digital cable subs in Austin. Viewers bid via computer, then request alerts for their TV screens and rebid using the remote. The software is from BIAP Systems Inc., in Plano, Texas.
Remote click commerce, sometimes called t-commerce, has been a gleam in cable operators’s eyes for more than a decade but has yet to deliver serious returns. Maybe offering it as a service instead of a profit center will encourage users to give it a try.
