(Some pics from the show here) Spent some time today meeting exhibitors at the Streaming Media East Show in NYC…it was a fairly big sized exhibit, with abut 25-30 companies showcasing their wares. This used to be a vendor conference, focused mainly on the enterprise streaming, but the general feeling I got today was that the market there is still really slow, and the real opportunity is on the media/entertainment side.
Also, is there a separate streaming industry still? Is there a need? I mean, where does streaming end and where does downloading begin? And besides the DRM issues, if the pipes are big enough (that’s a big if right there), it doesn’t really matter. The vendor moves in this space reflect that, to the betterment of the industry…
Lost Remote has good coverage of the conference here..we just have some good pics from there..check out our Flickr stream here…
