@ Syndicate: Comparative Metrics & Quality

I am at the Syndicate Conference this morning, where, as usual, I missed the very early morning keynotes (8 AM! C’mon guys, have some mercy..when we launch our own conferences, it won’t start before 10 AM, I promise)…

A point brought up in one of the panels I joined midway was interesting: we can figure out internal RSS traffic, but what happens with comparative traffic? We have no idea what kind of figures we should be looking at, compared to say our competitors in the field, and that does not help in growing this area..

Another point: What quality of traffic is our feeds bringing in, if we say work with someone like Yahoo…

Peter Horan, CEO, About.com: We’re mercenary to the mainstream…we have to look at things like cost of traffic acquisitions. You have to look at things like reach etc..

Here’s what is needed: a NetRatings or Comscore of RSS/syndication world…
