Google Announces AdSense Feeds Beta; Yahoo Publishes Media RSS 1.0

Google moved its AdSense for feeds out of a small trial for a select few into beta Tuesday. It follows the AdSense model of content-relevant ads and pay for clicks. Only current AdSense publishers with more than 100 active feed subscribers can qualify for the application-only beta. Google also released a “best practices” guide, including a suggestion to syndicate full text and another to only use one ad per article. (I hope the program allows publishers to set the frequency for serving ads; serving one with every post turns the ad into wallpaper and distracts from the editorial.)
Meanwhile, Yahoo Media RSS, a new RSS tool that uses RSS 2.0 enclosures to enable content publishers and bloggers “to broadly distribute descriptions of and links to multimedia content,” is out of beta. It’s being integrated with Yahoo Video Search although it isn’t supported yet within My Yahoo.
