
A nice story on how newspaper and magazine sites have started offering podcasts/downloadable audio on their sites: among them, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Philadelphia Daily News, Washington Post and Forbes have started podcasts in recent weeks. So far, audiences are small, with some news podcasters reporting only a few hundred listeners per show.
It’s too early to tell if papers, which face declining circulation, can make a financial success of podcasts, but “I think it opens up a huge opportunity to offer a lot of their local content”, Pete Conti, a newspaper industry consultant with Borrell Associates said.
