Juha Christensen’s New Stealth Venture: Sonopia

Juha Christensen, the former head of Microsoft’s mobile division and till recently the head of Macromedia’s supposedly big push into mobile content technologies, has been working on his new venture focused on niche mobile communities, called Sonopia…the company was formed in Jan and will formally launch by the end of this year or early next, but it has been hiring furiously over the last few months. It has venture funding from Oysterfields, a VC firm focused on tech investments. Sonopia has also opened an R&D center in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine (a hotbed of Easter European mobile activity, by the way)
Anyway, as the site describes, “The team is designing a set of breakthrough client, server and services technologies that provide mobile subscribers with customized value propositions.” Should be interesting…in some respects, the company’s mission sounds a bit like Sennari, a mobile CRM company I wrote about earlier this week…
