TRAI To Suggest IMT-2000 Frequency For 3G Services

The Economic Times: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, the Indian equivalent of the US’ FCC, is likely to recommend the IMT-2000 2 Ghz frequency band for mobile operators, both GSM and CDMA, for offering third generation mobile technology services in its spectrum proposals.
The moves will benefit GSM-based cellular operators like Idea, Hutch and Bharti. BSNL, Bharti and MTNL have already announced their plans to go in for 3G services which allow advanced voice, video and data services on mobiles.
