iTunes and The Video Speculations

Apple has quietly released iTunes 4.8 for both Mac OS X and Windows, with support for video…for now, it seems as if the video has been added because Apple has started adding music videos to iTunes…

But the medium to long term implications is anybody’s guess: Apple offering a video service, movie service etc…

Also interestingly, tech columnist Robert X. Cringely wrote this in his weekly PBS columns: he predicts Apple will release a video iPod and announce an iTunes video store this year…”Looking at the unused iTunes icons that shipped with your new version of 10.4,” he wrote, “you’ll notice icons for currently-not-supported ogg vorbis and Windows Media Audio (wma), as well as several others including a variety of video formats, too.”
