
[Staci D. Kramer] As VP and GM of Yahoo Music, David Goldberg reports directly to Lloyd Braun, head of the Yahoo Media Group. We spent some time on the phone Tuesday as news rippled out that Yahoo was launching the beta version — finally — of Yahoo! Music Unlimited, a subscription music service including portability, personalization and community interaction.
Among the topics we covered: pricing; competition — Goldberg says the strategy is to grow the subscription music audience, not to compete with others in the field; the role of Musicmatch and the timeline for merging it with YMU; and how the new service will be integrated across Yahoo.
