Games Workshop has signed a deal with THQ Wireless to release a mobile game based on “Space Hulk”, part of the Warhammer 40K universe. “Space Hulk was the first Warhammer 40,000 computer game back in the early 90’s, so it’s feels very appropriate for it to be the first game we have on this emerging platform” said Jon Gillard, Business Development Manager for Games Workshop. “It also heralds the further extension of our long term relationship with THQ on Warhammer 40,000 products, a relationship which has already generated some great games and we are sure will continue to do so”.
The game — due for a summer release — will allow both real-time action and tactical, turn based play like the original tabletop game. The release has no mention of being able to play someone else, so I guess it can’t be done. While the game will have a ready fan-base in Warhammer 40K players it will have to be pretty good to get any decent sales — just like any game on the market, really.
