Or so says this story in IHT…the new slimmed-down version (without the Windows Media Player) of European edition of Microsoft Windows might be too-little, too-late. WMP is already the biggest player, while others are languishing…and content providers are not even bothering to encode in rival formats.
Even if Edition N did give Media Player’s rivals equal access to consumers, some market research suggests that the commission’s attempt to restore fair competition came too late.
