The Financial Express: This is a follow-up post on the IDC survey which we carried yesterday. A mobile user in India is today willing to cough up Rs 7,500 ($170 on an average) for buying a brand new handset, according to the IDC India survey. “The average amount spend on the current handset is Rs 4,500 ($100), thereby an additional Rs 3,000 ($70) is likely to be spent while upgrading,” IDC User Research Group senior analyst Nikhil Pant said.
Another finding is users send four SMS in a day on an average, while the number of SMS received is higher at six in a day. The number of incoming SMS is high as mobile service providers send information about various downloads like ring tones and contests.
