Juniper Research has released a series of studies on the future of mobile content…”while adult content – frequently heralded as mobile’s “killer app” – will generate healthy revenues of nearly US$2.2 billion by the end of the decade, the key drivers of mobile content are expected to be gambling and games, with their respective markets worth US$19.3 billion and US$18.5 billion respectively by 2009″.
In 2009 gambling is predicted to make up 33% of mobile content, with games taking up 31%. This will be followed by music (16%) and sports (8%). Ringtones, currently accounting for 31% of the mobile content market, will make up no more than 8% by 2009.
