LA-based mobile content company Jamdat had a stellar Q1: the mobile gaming biggie earned $2.7 million, up markedly from $738,000 in the year-ago period. Revenues were up $15.1 million, a 31% sequential increase and a 115% increase over the first quarter a year ago.
Shares of the company zoomed up more than 10% Thursday afternoon….
Mobileplaya: CEO Mitch Lasky made a point to say that “mobile entertainment is moving beyond games”, but that Jamdat believes games represent the best opportunity for mobile content companies to create their own brand. “While there will be rolls for distribution players and aggregators,” said Lasky, “these are not rolls we’ve chosen to play. We’re executing on a classic strategy of a media company–we intent to continue to build and diversify Jamdat.”
