Become Rich Through Mobile Porn

Wi-Fi TV Inc has come to the conclusion that mobile porn offers a “get rich quick” scheme that’s not to be missed. The company has formed a subsidiary, Euro-tainment, “with the intent of delivering wireless online adult entertainment through multiple venues, and focusing initially on the European marketplace”.
I love this quote: “Regardless of who is providing the content, it’s pretty clear that the next few years are going to be highly lucrative for producers of mobile content, especially in Europe and Asia. All told, however, analysts from the Yankee Group estimate that mobile porn will be at least a $1 billion global business by 2008, while Juniper Research says the numbers could go as high as $2.1 billion by 2009.”
It’s true that the next few years will see a strong increase in the amount of money flowing to mobile content providers, but I’m pretty sure that the distribution of the money will be fairly uneven. Some providers will do amazingly well and some will go bankrupt. It’s also interesting that they’ve focussed on adult content (which they’ve assumed consists solely of pornography) and trotted out those old statistics — which look impressive but pale in comparison with mobile games and mobile music. I guess the attitude is that porn is easy, you just need a camera and a willing woman.
Euro-Tainment intends to launch at least six websites, to be available in English, German, French, and Spanish language versions, by the end of May 2005.
On a related topic, PC World has done an article on restrictions for R-Rated mobile content. “Why should this system succeed when others have failed? Because if it’s implemented at the carrier level — which would make the most sense — it would remove control from handsets and place it with a central server, making it harder for kids to disable the filtering.”
