In UK, communications watchdog Ofcom is reportedly mulling a new classification system for online media that would warn users of offensive or adult material.
In an interview with FT, Tim Suter, Ofcom board member, said: “We’re asking whether it is possible to find a common framework behind labelling of content. A uniform labelling system would be very helpful.”
The plan will require the agreement of UK ISPs, telecom firms and media groups. Ofcom has said that the BBC, Scottish Media Group, and the Community Channel have all expressed their support for the scheme.
