“We’re focused on developing and growing the mobile ecosystem,” says Betsey Nelson, Macromedia’s chief financial officer. “This is a huge market for us.” Hence the recent investment in Indiagames, an early Flash Lite devel0per. Going mobile is a good move for Macromedia — although smartphones are a small segment it is one that will continue to grow… a lot faster than the PC market. Several large mobile companies already incorporate Flash Lite (Nokia, Samsung and NTT DoCoMo), and others are sure to follow.
One interesting point…”Designers don’t have to write code; they simply create their products using the Flash authoring tool and export them to cell phones…Flash tends to lower the barrier to entry, which opens the doors for nontechie types to introduce a wide range of content.”
