AudioFeast is looking for a Director of Product Management who is passionate about building great products delivering on the promise of personalized portable media. AudioFeast is satellite Radio for MP3 players using the Internet, without satellites. Audio Feast’s Virtual Broadcast Network (VBN) enables thousands of content providers (the long tail)to create and launch portable radio channels, and build communities of consumers around this content.
Responsibilities:
Product Strategy and Planning:
– Identify strategic market opportunities, segment and size markets to identify targets. Define and assess new product concepts and opportunities. Develop business cases and establish pricing and profit strategies.
– Oversee requirements gathering and product specification for new products. Develop justification and viability analysis of new products and enhancements.
– Lead creation of product plans.
– Define and communicate a coherent product vision and strategy, value proposition, use cases, and positioning for each product, both internally and externally.
– Help to identify and develop strategic relationships that support product development goals. Make build, acquire or partner recommendations to fulfill product strategy objectives.
Product Requirements:
– Work closely with product development teams to translate market requirements into concise and clear product requirements, priorities and schedules for front-end user interface, client and device SDKs and server-side processes. Develop and gain cross-functional buy-in to MRD and PRD documents.
– Rigorously define content, metadata and information architecture requirements for new and evolving products.
– Define key service level, usage and quality metrics to monitor and ensure product competitiveness.
– Act as a champion for both the consumer and AudioFeast’s MP3 player OEM partners with an intense focus on quality.
Engineering Interface:
– Work closely with Engineering to develop and adapt design solutions. Make functionality trade-off decisions to ensure timely delivery of products that meet market needs.
– Effectively communicate product development status to the executive team.
– Develop and manage Beta and launch plans for new products and services.
Marketing Interface:
– Partner with Marketing to translate technical features into customer value propositions; define messaging and create product white papers, one-sheets, press releases, flash presentations, and other marketing collateral.
– Help represent AudioFeast externally: Evangelize the service to partners, media, analysts, and customers.
– Oversee development of general community strategy.
– Drive customer acquisition through viral marketing to maximize the viral acquisition potential of our community features.
– Design tell-a-friend and other referral programs.
– Contribute to developing relationships with external community venues (e.g. Myspace, Friendster, Tribe.net, etc.)
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
– MBA preferred.
– BS/BA degree required; computer science/engineering degree or equivalent experience a plus.
– Minimum 7 years of increasing responsibility in software, Internet or content services product management, product marketing or program management, preferably in the digital music or consumer electronics industries.
– Must have a solid track record in design and delivery of successful and innovative applications or services.
– Solid experience in digital media technologies, software development, and database technology.
– Experience in content aggregation, search, data mining, data-driven applications, and/or media players a plus.
– International experience is a plus, especially Japan, Korea, China or Europe.
Skills & Knowledge
– Strategic thinker; can manage long-term and cross-product issues.
– Must be able to quickly assimilate technical options and tradeoffs and guide the team to the optimal balance of meeting customer needs and operating within resource constraints.
– Excellent organizational and project management skills: Must be able to lead a team through the goal setting process, execution, delivery and maintenance of product programs.
– Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and present highly professional, effective presentations for both business and technical audiences.
– Working knowledge of PC SDK, PC application, Web and/or embedded software development.
– Knowledge of digital music software, Internet services and/or consumer electronics is preferred.
– Knowledge of entertainment media metadata and information architecture principles is preferred.
