The Director, Business Development will be responsible for the prioritization and closing of partnerships necessary for the success of CBS SportsLine.com‘s strategy. The position requires creativity, drive, leadership, analysis and the ability to sell and negotiate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include assessing diverse competitive landscapes, developing strategic plans and selling business development opportunities both internally and externally, specifically:
– Assisting in the development and successful execution of company-wide strategy;
– Seeking and forging new distribution opportunities for CBS SportsLine’s content and products;
– Evaluating and recommending business development opportunities to grow revenues and expand product offerings including alliances, partnerships, investments and acquisitions;
– Performing industry research to better understand each of the various industries in which CBS SportsLine participates and its competitive place within them and educating senior management of the same;
– Researching and analyzing market trends in an effort to identify and develop growth strategies for the business;
– Interacting with production, technology, finance, marketing and sales departments to ensure contemplated deals will further corporate objectives and be implemented properly;
– Creating support materials for analyzing and communicating potential transactions including deal memos, financial models and talking points; and
– Support senior executives and complete projects as needed.
Qualifications:
– BS/BA degree required; MBA preferred.
– 3-5 years experience in negotiating and closing deals; candidates with less experience will be considered for Manager-level position.
– Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
– Experience or interest in technology and/or sports preferred.
