ZDNet India: A report submitted to India’s IT and Telecom ministry by an expert panel predicted that the domestic software industry including the local language applications and content industry will grow seven-fold from about Rs 1,900 crore ($431 million) to Rs 13,300 crore ($3 billion) in the next five years.
According to the high-powered panel, India should achieve a PC penetration of 65 per 1,000 from the existing 14 per 1,000 and Internet penetration of 40 per 1,000 subscribers from the existing five per 1,000 subscribers.
SiliconIndia: Meanwhile a World Bank report said that despite India emerging as the IT capital of the world, India still has the lowest Internet use and access to personal computers among developing regions.
