Business Standard: A telecom disupte settlement panel set aside the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s order to quash the bandwidth prices. The Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) took this decision after hearing a petition from VSNL, India’s largest international long distance operator, which challenged the TRAI order on price reduction of international bandwidth prices.
Last week, TRAI had lowered international bandwidth prices by up to 70 per cent projecting that the move would help tariff reduction of Internet and broadband services besides boosting their penetration. Now you can expect the bandwidth issue getting tangled in a legal quagmire.
