Dreaming Of Mobile Gaming

Something that has the potential to be big in mobile content are massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs). Of course it can’t be quite like the internet-based ones since people will want to spend less time playing them but will log on more often. This article is an interview with Jochai Papke, the managing director of AwareDreams, which has developed one of the first J2ME based MMORPGs, Fantasy Worlds:Rhynn.

“For MMORPGs with a smaller user-base it seems to be hard times now as noone likes to play in an empty world and the ‘big license’ games attract so much more players. Luckily, this is not true for the mobile market as there are only very few MMORPGs in the market now. Once more, I think, innovation is the most important thing to consider. People will eventually get bored doing the same simple quests all over again so you need to think hard what else you have to offer to the players.”
