Taiwan’s five 3G licence holders have formed an alliance to conduct research and development in 3G applications and services. The alliance will be partly funded (the figure tossed about is 40%) by the government in a bid to encourage the local development of content. “The alliance will initially conduct a four-month pilot project to encourage local development of mobile content to be offered through 3G services such as news and gaming services.”
