“As inconceivable as it must be for some people to imagine anyone saying no to Stevie J., BusinessWeek is reporting that both Sprint and Verizon Wireless have already said no to Motorola’s iTunes phone”, wrote Engadget. The Business Week feature they link to was posted earlier by Rafat, and they seem to be basing their conclusion on the following line: “Most major wireless companies, including Verizon Wireless and Sprint, have balked at carrying the iPod phone.”
BusinessWeek doesn’t give a source for this statement, and is conceivably simply repeating industry speculation. And the word “balked” is more indicative of a lack of enthusiasm rather than a hostile refusal. That being said, most independant observers are convinced the carriers will do everything to avoid carrying the iTunes phone for reasons that have been gone over countless times but boil down to money.
