Executives At MIPTV See Content Going Mobile

MipTV 2005MipTV was invaded by mobile phone companies this year, and the TV guys are becoming interested. “We spent most of last year trying to pitch (mobile ideas), but no platforms were interested,” said Peter Cowley, director of interactive media at Endemol. “We’re finding now that operators are coming to us and saying, ‘Can you do this or that?’ It’s changed in a matter of months.”

Like radio, the TV model is facing a challenge from mobile technology. “But this fast-changing and uncertain environment also offers opportunities to increase the value of content and have direct relationships with consumers. “The first thing to do is embrace the trend, whether mobile or Internet, and experiment,” he said.”
