FanTESStic Mobile Soap Moves Down Under

TessSlice Wireless has signed a deal with Endemol Southern Star to publish the mobile soap opera FanTESStic in Australia and New Zealand – which is appropriate because I originally thought the title was making fun of the New Zealand accent…The soap – which centers on a DJ named Tess – eschews the video format for the cheaper to produce MMS format, giving the thing more of a comic strip feel. Particularly interesting is the interactive component of the series, for example the option to “dress Tess”:

What do you think she should wear?
– A Sexy shirt
– B Beach dress
– C Trousers with a little top
– D Nothing

Tacky? For sure. But probably a good marketing technique. Simply “SMS A, B, C or D to 1999TESS You’ll get her first three episodes for $6.60 AND a look at what she might be wearing in future episodes – depending on your choice”.
