Mobile Research is a startup aimed at helping mobile content developers get their stuff on as many handsets as possible. The technique is slightly different – Mobile Research spent $35,000 on handsets to compile a database of phones and the requirements for each one, so that developers can “create a more generic piece of content that works across more handsets”. The apparent idea is that if you’re going to make mobile content, you may as well format it to work on the largest number possible of handsets before worrying about porting it to more of them.
