Yahoo: Senior Product Marketing Manager, Yahoo! Search, Sunnyvale, Ca

Yahoo! Search is passionate about building the best search platform on the planet. We’re seeking a strategic, results-oriented, experienced product marketing manager to drive our search marketing efforts. In this position, you will define and execute product marketing strategy across multiple Yahoo! Search products including Yahoo! Toolbar. You will be the ultimate advocate for the user as you work with product management, business development, market research, user research and design, and data mining to position, design and implement compelling product marketing campaigns. This position requires a results-oriented, analytical maven with the zeal to push hard and deliver against goals. You will be expected to model and deliver on audience and monetization growth goals, develop and execute marketing plans that result in strong ROI, monitor competitive activity, and measure overall service performance and satisfaction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

– Understand and report on key data and metrics for Yahoo! Search and Yahoo! Toolbar, delivering insights to drive the business.

– Work closely with production, business development, engineering and other cross-functional teams to support & identify search distribution related opportunities.

– Develop a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors through internal and external research to apply against marketing efforts, product feature development, and end-to-end management and measurement of customer satisfaction.

– Lead the go-to-market strategy for search products, with a focus on increasing user engagement and activation through the entire product lifecycle.

– Identify customer segments and market opportunities, drive the marketing objectives and strategies, develop product positioning and messaging that stands up to competitors, and be a spokesperson for the product.

– Meticulously think through every aspect of the user experience, putting user’s needs and expectations first as you develop clear, effective product messaging and collateral.

– Work closely with PR and influencer marketing teams to drive perception and adoption of Yahoo! Search and Yahoo! Toolbar with key audiences.

– Develop a functional understanding of the key technological and architectural bases of the Yahoo! Search and Toolbar platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS:

– BS in CS or EE preferred, or equivalent technical experience. 5-8 years of technical product marketing experience in online services, search, or consumer software preferred. An MBA is highly desirable. Business development experience a plus.

– Proven success in a fast-paced, matrixed work environment in a dynamic, rapidly changing and highly competitive industry.

– Strong experience in all marketing disciplines.

– Excellent analytical skills and a passion for data driven marketing.

– Track record of success in driving new user acquisition, usage & retention.

– Proven ability to translate technical specs into consumer-facing information.

– Strong influence management, communication and interpersonal skills.

– Excellent presentation and writing skills and comfort dealing with all levels of an organization.

– Entrepreneurial spirit.
