Yahoo: Director of Marketing, Yahoo! Autos, Sunnyvale, Ca

Yahoo! Autos seeks an entrepreneurial, results-driven executive to join its senior management team. The Autos business is part of Yahoo!’s rapidly growing Search & Marketplace business unit. In this position, you will play an instrumental role in fostering Yahoo’s growth as an online leader in the critically important automotive vertical, the largest worldwide marketing category and one of the largest and fastest growing marketing categories online.

You will drive marketing for the Autos property, and will also contribute to Yahoo! Autos’ business development and content development initiatives. Key marketing activities will include driving aggressive online user acquisition efforts, and guiding research efforts to uncover meaningful and actionable consumer insights. You’ll lead marketing strategic planning, develop and manage promotional initiatives, and leverage a wide array of tracking and reporting tools to systematically understand and optimize marketing performance. You will work closely with Product Management, Business Development and Business Operations counterparts to drive strong, sustainable growth across the business. This position reports to the Senior Marketing Director, Search & Marketplace in Sunnyvale, CA, and also works closely with the General Manager of Yahoo! Autos.

Responsibilities:

– Represent the Autos Marketing Team in cross-functional communication and interface with senior management.

– Manage one direct report marketer – set performance goals and expectations, coach in delivering highest quality results.

– Drive traffic acquisition, both on and off the Yahoo! network; partnering with experts in search engine marketing and search engine optimization.

– Develop a deep understanding of end-user needs via user database and behavioral profiling, custom qualitative and quantitative studies, and third party research.

– Enhance existing reporting functions that determine effectiveness of marketing channels and ROI.

– Work closely with other Search & Marketplace teams and Yahoo! central marketing organization to build and share best marketing practices.

– Provide oversight for Business Development function during Director of Business Development’s maternity leave.

– Provide oversight for new editorial/content development, in partnership with Product Management team

Qualifications:

– 10+ years of experience in marketing, business development and content development, working with consumer online products.

– Automotive industry experience a strong plus.

– Demonstrated leadership and people management skills.

– Strong analytical skills to test, measure, refine and report on the impact of marketing programs.

– Ability to turn market research findings into actionable marketing insights.

– Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work in fluid, matrix environments.

– Demonstrated ability to quickly understand marketplace changes, strategic implications and business implications for Yahoo!.

– MBA degree is desirable.
