Pricing For Mobile Video Services In US

At Digital Hollywood earlier this week, panelists were asked a question about the optimal pricing of the nascent mobile video services. None of them had any clear answers, but Dr. Phillip Alvelda, CEO of Idetic (operator of MobiTV) said that he thinks there will be a move away from a la carte pricing to subscriptions, over the medium to long term, as the market matures. The sticker shock in a la carte cases would be too much for it to happen.
Keith Hindle, VP of Integrated Marketing and Interactivity at FremantleMedia North America, thought that the pricing would go similar to what online music services had gone: anywhere from between 49 cents to 99 cents for single downloads (of short form video) and about $10 per month for subscriptions…
