An interesting piece of info came out of the Digital Hollywood panel (see below): Alltel, the second tier mobile operator in about 26 states in U.S., has been auctioning off premium placements on its main content deck to the highest bidder, according to Bryan Biniak, head of AGMobile. For the last two quarter, they have started a bidding process, and auctioned off placements for different content types on their main content deck…
The operator had some assumptions going into the first round, and most of them have been proven: there’s a significant uplift for people who buy that spot..people have actually made their money back, and then some.
