They seem to assume that somebody actually will say, “I absolutely love Comedy Central, so I’m going to subscribe to Verizon Wireless’ V CAST service, which carries it.” The articles does say that walled gardens is good for content developes, which is untrue. Content providers that get their goods onto the operator portal are better off than those who don’t, but that doesn’t mean its good for them. The only time I can see the walled garden approach working is when people want restrictive content, such as for their children.
